Woodbridge 1, Corona del Mar 2: The Warriors (4-3-1 League, 7-7-6 Overall) played an aggressive and exciting match against the Pacific Coast League-leading Sea Kings (7-0-1, 13-2-4) but were edged 2-1 Tuesday afternoon at Alton Park. Woodbridge created several chances throughout the match but were unlucky to have two excellent free kicks by CDM's Annie Alvarado doom their best efforts to knock off the League leaders.
The Warriors scored on a second half goal by freshman Grayson Galbraith, assisted by junior Madi Krauser. The goal tied the match at that point.
Senior captain Brooke ten Bosch had a good shot on goal in the first half that bounced away after it hit the cross bar.
Krauser also had a good shot on goal late in the match but her line drive was saved by the Sea Kings goalie on a lunging dive. Game summary.
With CIF playoffs just around the corner, the Warriors now are in third place in the Pacific Coast League (current league standings) with a key match against second-place Northwood on Thursday. The game will be played at Irvine Stadium beginning at 7:00pm.
